Photographs made on the Remembrance Day Event at Ladywell and Brockley Cemetery, London 2010.

Taken aback by the sensitivity of marking potholes on the pathway for people walking in the dark and simultaneously envisioning incase this had to be done in Mumbai would any path be left?

CROSSING LINES is a collaborative forum between the Centre for Urban and Community Research & London Independent Photography

Crossing Lines was created in January 2010 as a meeting point for photographers & researchers whose central interest is the urban situation, its constituent & its dynamics

Crossing Lines is a group devoted to urban photography in all its varieties, in both theory and practice. Communicative intention is important to us, technique less so. We are interested in both finished projects and tentative beginnings. There may sometimes be only one major presentation but more often we aim for two to four, always discussing what has been shown.

Crossing Lines was founded by the late John Levett as a bridge between LIP and the students of the Photography and Urban Cultures course at Goldsmiths College. The group now meets over Zoom, with many ex-students and LIP members joining from around the globe to continue a dialogue that is unique to Crossing Lines.
